Improv 4 Kids has been touring Long Island schools, summer camp, libraries, theaters and private events for 20+ years.

Every show features all professional artists, many born and raised in Nassau or Suffolk county. The cast creates original skits and songs improvised based on audience suggestions and participation.

Parents and teachers love the cultural arts, language arts and life skills. Kids just love the joy and laughter. We don’t tell them about the invaluable educational value.

Improv Workshops take the education a step further, getting kids and teens on their feet. Simply playing these games boosts selfconfidence, listening and focus. Extended play develops creativity, critical thinking, public speaking and self awareness. Improv IS Social Emotional Learning!

We have teachers available for residences and schools and camps. Offer an extended theaterical program. Beyond the cost of a teaching artist, there is no over head – no royalties, no printing, no costumes, no props, etc. These are all supplied by a child’s imagination!

We teach younger kids how to play. But grades 3-8 needs the arts to bridge adolescene into adulthood. Improv is the perfect conduit. By starting workshops at grade 3 (shows are great for all ages k12… to senior citizens), we capture them at age when they still play like kids, but start to understand and process.

By continuing through middle school we fight the behaviors that lead to stage fright and social anxiety. We teach to move.past ego and insecurity and to double down on listening and being prepared. With improv the rewards are immediate.

Their listening and focus, partnered with YES AND… support for their partners, delivers more laughs then when they TRY to be funny or clever. They embrace storytelling elements, as we deconstruct Language Arts. They become better readers and writers as they hit a ceiling with JUST winging it.

We eventually include stand up and sketch comedy to further deliver on the literacy skills. We make writing fun for non writers. We teach good writers to be great. Improv is one giant exercise in divergent thinking.
